I would first like to thank you for taking the time to look at this comic. Please leave any comments you wish, the more constructive the better.
My friend and I have been wanting to create a comic based on characters and a fantastic story from our role-playing past. Finally we decided to give it a go and got the dunharrow-scrolls.com domain, a year and a bit later we decided we should start work on the comic itself.
We decided not to run head long into the main story in which our characters live but instead create a side story to help us understand how to create a comic.
The comic “The Dry Run” which is aptly named did exactly what we wanted. It helped us understand the dynamics of creating a comic and helped us start to understand the process from the concept story to the final produced comic.
When deciding what to base our first comic on we came to the conclusion that we wanted to put three of the main characters in a situation which they would not encounter in the main story arc.
When coming up with the story for the “The Dry Run” we decided that we wanted to pay tribute to a key figure in the comic world, the main man himself Stan Lee. Stan Lee has been a key inspiration to myself and my friend Steve Clarke for many years. Steve has been a big fan of Spiderman ever since I have known him.
The second influence on this story is LOST, the TV series. After six great seasons the show ended and as a thank you to the creators of LOST and hopefully to the fans we added our own tribute to the show. If you have ever watched LOST there is a scene in season three where Ben talks to Locke about a box :- Ben says to Locke. What if I told you there was a box on this island, and when you opened that box…”.
In a way I feel the room in which our characters find themselves is like the box on the island.
I will leave you now to read our comic and hopefully you will enjoy what we have done.
Please remember the main story arc of the dunharrow-scrolls does not have any bearing on what happens in the comic “The Dry Run”. But saying that equally strange things happen in the main story which even surpass the strangeness of the “The Dry Run”.
Thank you for reading.
